What Is Life Coaching?

A technical definition of life coaching (taken from Neil Asher – Founder of New Insights) is;

“A way to realise your true potential through a process of uncovering, and then eliminating, destructive behavioural and thinking patterns in your life, in a supporting, caring and inspirational environment. Coaching is a solution-focussed approach to personal development that can assist you in making lasting change in all areas of your life. This is achieved by empowering people with specific tools and scientifically tested techniques that work”.

An alternative and more personal definition of life coaching (also borrowed from New Insights) describes it as follows;

Imagine working with someone who;
  • puts the total focus on you, on what you want in your life, and what will help you achieve it.
  • will help you clarify your goals and provide you with the tools for action and learning that lead to the results you want.
  • will hold you accountable and keep you moving forward towards your dreams and goals.
  • listens not only to your words, but to what’s behind them and to the spaces between them.
  • is in tune with the nuances of your voice, your emotion and your energy.
  • receives everything you communicate and who listens to the very best in you even when you can’t hear it in yourself.
  • is curious about your dreams and aspirations, what makes you tick, what you value and the things that you are most passionate about in life.
  • is sometimes even more committed to what you want in your life than you are.
  • knows your values and life purpose and holds you true to them.
  • will hold the flag at the top of the hill, encouraging you to press on, and will celebrate your victories with you and help you learn from your setbacks.
  • will absolutely tell you the truth about where you are strong, knows where you sell yourself short and knows you can handle it to become what you want.
  • sees how great you can be and constantly holds that image for you – even when you can’t see it yourself.
  • listens to you without judgement and allows you to show emotion; someone who accepts you without analysing you; someone who you talk to every week – when you’ve had great successes or even when you’ve just messed up and will help you maintain your progress.

Imagine a reaching a point where you finally break free of those self-limiting conversations you’ve been having with yourself over the years – where the voices of self-sabotage are simply noticed for what they are and where the powerful part of you is always encouraged.

Imagine what you would do and could achieve with someone like that in your corner…

Now is the time to stop imagining and take control of your future. Let me support you in becoming all you have ever wanted to be and more.
